Overview

The Senior Patient Access Representative enhances patient access to increase revenue to the clinic.

 

In this role, you will advise patients regarding insurance coverage and financial obligations, complete registration and scheduling of patients in the automated registration /scheduling system, and collect payments for copayments, co-insurance and/or deductibles.

   

Hours are 8:00 am -4:30 pm (Monday - Friday).  

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledges patient arriving into the clinic and reviews and updates patient registration/demographic information
  • Verifies and scans insurance information at time of service to ensure appropriate and complete information has been obtained
  • Obtain referral waiver forms when appropriate
  • Obtain signature on ABN when appropriate and can provide education to patient on ABN process
  • Utilizes scheduling system for many types of appointments
  • Enters managed care referral
  • Collects co-payments and/or payment in full or partial payment on any balances on account
  • Ability to independently review balances on accounts to review with patient at time of check-in
  • Produce replication of EOB and/or statement for patient review as requested
  • Assists Patient Access Representative(s) checking in patients that have a question or need further understanding of their balance
  • Collaborates with Collections Supervisor and or Patient Financial Counselor for patients wishing to set up a budget plan and recurring payments
  • Provides general information to patients and visitors 
  • Other duties as assigned Supervisor

 

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a medical office setting to include front office and back office revenue cycle practices
  • Demonstrates skill in customer service, team building and problem solving
  • Must have an understanding of medical billing and third party reimbursement in order to accurately answer patient inquiries efficiently.
  • Ability to manage several tasks with minimal supervision under pressures of deadlines and fluctuating workload
  • Can serve as back-up to Patient Access Supervisor as needed
  • Ability to prioritize multiple work queues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Skill in math balance daily deposit  and to handle billing and collection issues
  • Knowledge of personal computer and automated registration/scheduling systems
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines and regulations
