Overview

The Patient Access Representative Lead (Joslin Clinic) is responsible to ensure high quality customer service to patients and internal staff.

 

In this role, you will work collaboratively to monitor and participate in the daily operations of the Patient Access area of the Joslin Clinic (Check in), performing responsibilities including accurate registration of patient demographics, advising patients regarding insurance coverage and financial obligations, and collection of payments and co-payments, co-insurance of deductibles and timely appointment acknowledgement. 

You will act as a liaison between the Revenue Cycle and the Clinic Operations/Patient Access team.

Responsibilities

  • Alongside other Clinic Management, monitors the day to day operations of the Patient Access team:  Including, providing world class customer service, data entry of patient demographics, scanning of insurance cards, obtaining appropriate authorizations, obtaining, as needed, waivers, collection of co-payments and/or time of service payments.
  • Promotes teamwork and helps coordinate scheduling for coverage for approved scheduled and unscheduled absences.
  • Trains new staff and ensure all staff members are current with their trainings and participates in the hiring process of new staff.
  • Writes employee performance evaluations and goal setting.
  • Responsible to balance the daily deposit and prepare for Fiscal Services
  • Maintains reports associated with Key Performance Indicators
  • Required to attend insurance training seminars to enhance knowledge of insurance requirements.
  • Assist in policy development and improvement for the department

Qualifications

  • Two year Associate Degree concentration in business, Bachelor’s preferred
  • 4 years experience in a fast paced medical setting
  • Experience in registration function and automated scheduling systems
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of insurance requirements and customer service excellence
  • Demonstrated ability with PC and various software (Including experience with Excel)
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent math skills
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines and regulations
  • Self-starter, team oriented with a can do attitude
  • May be required to work extended hours into the evening.
  • The position requires flexibility, professionalism and the ability to interact with patient and all levels of staff within the Center.
