The Research Assistant (Pediatrics) is to help in the recruitment process of pediatric diabetes patients and their families into two new clinical studies. One study will entail the creation of a new research biobank to study environmental, genetic, and epigenetic factors that contribute to early-onset type 1 diabetes. The second study will involve implementation and testing of a new motivational and behavioral intervention to improve cardiovascular outcomes in teens with type 1 diabetes.



  • Responsible for identifying eligible patients from a subspecialty pediatric diabetes clinic, enrolling them in studies and assisting with the logistics of study visits. 
  • Assist with communication between study staff and the Joslin committee for human studies.


  • BS or BA. Academic background: preferred prior coursework in biology, psychology, and/or other scientific discipline, pre-med, and/or statistics.
  • Preferred at least two years of research experience working with children, families or equivalent experience during college
  • Experience with computers (data entry)
  • Experience with statistical analyses preferred, but not required
  • Writing skills, use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
