  • Overview

    The Director is responsible for the oversight and management of Joslin’s Education and Care Programs.

    The Director will initiate and develop strong relationships with external and internal domestic and international partners that might include diabetes companies, health systems, employers, and government agencies. The Director will help negotiate terms of agreements in order to help grow Joslin’s business initiatives in education and care programs. The position will understand and manage the needs of clients.

    Responsibilities

    Proposal and Client Development

     

    • Work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and executive staff to identify and develop business opportunities and leads and assist in converting them into prospects to extend the reach of clinical care and education. 
    • Act as the primary relationship owner for clinical and education partners in services, product alliances and program development. Champion the program and customer needs internally within Joslin, particularly with faculty and staff of Clinic. 
    • Initiate and maintain constant customer communication and coordinates all requests and activities, including those linked to external vendors/partners for clinical programs. Solicit and respond to client feedback. 
    • Manage the Profit and Loss for the division. Suggest course corrections with customers as necessary to achieve desired outcomes and budgeted results. Work with management and staff to develop and implement new business models, where needed. Help determine the appropriate allocation of Joslin resources necessary to meet program and customer requirements 
    • Develop and work with current clients to expand and grow programs collaborating closely with the Executive and Senior Staff. 
    • Actively participate in the annual planning process for Education and Care Programs. Manage the annual budget process and strategic and operating reviews. Provide input to help assess overall talent and staffing needs in the Group and make recommendations to build capabilities. 
    • Manage a diverse group of personnel as direct reports with skill sets in project management, business development, clinical education, and day-to-day administrative operations. Manage and conduct performance reviews with input from appropriate staff, as well as clients and be responsible for the morale, output, and growth of direct reports. 
    • Work with the Financial Services group to ensure processes for reporting, invoicing, and other fiscal requirements.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. with advanced degree preferred (Master’s or higher) in healthcare related field
    • Proven track record and experience in healthcare sales and business development
    • 5 years of client service and senior project management experience in healthcare industry, preferably in managerial and business management position with a health system, health services company or payer institution
    • Experience in developing and delivering healthcare projects in the International and Domestics arenas
    • Significant experience in marketing and business development and be able to participate in the development of marketing and sales support materials and promotional strategies
    • Broad base of knowledge within health care particularly diabetes, and ability to think creatively and quickly
    • Possess knowledge of medical clinic processes, practices, workflows and financial management such as quality improvement and P&L construction
    • Strong analytic and strategic skills. Comfort and confidence with finance and economic issues involved with P&L management, budgets, ROI analyses, pricing, etc.
    • P&L management experience required
    • Financial analysis experience in healthcare delivery
    • Strong proposal development and writing abilities
    • Demonstrated experience in working with clients to manage projects, a true customer service professional
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and marketing skills
    • Ability to work across the organization and create a strong team approach to business model development
    • Self-starter with ability to balance both high-level strategy setting with more detailed, hands-on execution
    • Leadership qualities and ability to develop teams and peer groups
    • Ability to work with and create high performing clinical teams and execute high-quality work
