    The Philanthropy Coordinator, Individual Giving is responsible for a range of work to support the Office of Philanthropy’s goal to secure private funding through individuals in order to advance Joslin Diabetes Center’s mission to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes.  

     

    This is an entry level position considered as a “base” for someone pursuing a career in Philanthropy.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop a strong working knowledge of The Raiser’s Edge database in order to enter, maintain, synthesize and pull data relating to fundraising activities.
    • Provide support to assigned major and leadership giving officers by documenting contact activity, coordinating travel, drafting thank you letters, writing and coordinating briefings, and generating proposals and reports as needed. 
    • Work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Senior Director, Individual Giving to plan and execute 6-8 cultivation events per year, including President’s Round Tables, two Leadership Council meetings, cultivation dinners or receptions. 
    • Assist the Senior Director, Individual Giving with aspects of the Grateful Patient Programs, including tracking referrals and the coordination of the Clinician Philanthropy Council. 
    • Assist gift officers in gaining clinician referrals and screening prospects for qualification visits.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
    • 0-2 years of administrative experience and/or a combination of intern and volunteer experience preferred
    • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Directed and self-starting attitude
    • Work independently and confidentially and be able to interact with donors, trustees, patients, and staff in a professional manner
    • Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications (preferably The Raisers Edge and Microsoft Office)
    • Ability to initiate and organize work, establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and qualility
