  • Overview

    The Child Life Specialist will work closely with members of a multi-disciplinary, pediatric diabetes team to create and provide developmentally appropriate curriculum, activities and support for pediatric patients and families. 


    In this role you will coordinate pediatric appointments, including front desk coverage.  Make outreach to patients in the Jump Start program, to high risk patients, and to patients that have been lost to follow-up.  Create, coordinate and participate in special pediatric projects and events at Joslin and in the community.



    • Create, organize, and administer developmentally appropriate curriculum activities, and support, for pediatric patients and their families, including support for lab procedures.
    • Create and organize educational and support group programs and events for pediatric patients and families.
    • Coordinate medical appointments for pediatric patients and families.  Including assisting with front desk coverage.
    • Provide outreach to Jump Start patients, high risk patients, and patients lost to follow-up to insure appropriate medical follow-up.
    • Collaborate with pediatric research team on special projects.
    • Evaluate effectiveness of current pediatric initiatives and help create new pediatric initiatives.


    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Masters in Child Life preferred.
    • Experience in a Pediatric Clinical setting and previous work with families and a multidisciplinary health care team.  Experience in diabetes preferred.
    • Eligibility or certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) is a plus.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Excellent writing and organizational skills
