    The Data Specialist is responsible for data entry into the billing system the posting of, payments, and adjustments as assigned by the Patient Accounts Manager. 

     

    This is a part time position, at 20 hours/week. Schedule is 3 days a week, must work Fridays!

    Responsibilities

    • Post insurance payments and adjustments accurately into the billing system within two business days of their receipt.
    • Post insurance denials accurately into the billing system within two business days of receipt
    • Posts patient payments, including those deposited to Joslin’s bank deposit box, those made via credit card, or those made at the front desk, to the billing system within one day of their receipt in Patient Accounts.
    • Post refunds to insurance and patients
    • Monitors and reports recurring problems relating to payment entry.
    • Responsible to mail and attached EOB’s for secondary claims generated on paper
    • Provides back up to other Data Specialists when necessary, covers other functions in the department as is deemed necessary by the Supervisor, including but not limited to answering the general patient accounts phone line, posting address changes, scanning documents, sorting mail, and processing bank deposits.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma
    • 1-2 years healthcare related experience preferred
    • Knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 coding preferred.
    • Keyboard (minimum 45 wpm) to ensure accurate and efficient data entry of charges into billing system
    • Ability to perform repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence and pace
    • Ability to collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient daily operations
    • Ability to balance and problem solve
