    The Annual Giving Officer is responsible for the delivery of a robust annual giving program to achieve annual fundraising goals and prospect acquisition/retention targets.

    Specifically, the Annual Giving Officer will help execute effective & measurable annual giving initiatives including: direct mail, monthly sustainer, tribute, matching gift, and digital philanthropy.; In addition, this position will assist with the creation and implementation of new donor and new patient welcome programs. This role encompasses both ‘behind the scenes’ writing and content generation as well as some ‘front-line’ in person face-to-face qualification visits with a specific constituent base.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage the external direct mail vendor relationship to help with the planning and execution of a comprehensive mailing calendar of over 20 direct mail pieces each fiscal year.
    • Coordinate Joslin’s online giving program, including drafting and editing eSolicitations, oversee and execute Joslin’s Giving Tuesday and National Doctors’ Day efforts, and help drive Joslin’s social media fundraising campaign.
    • Manage the operation of Partners in Victory – Joslin’s online monthly giving program – and steward and solicit this community of loyal donors.
    • Partner with Office of Philanthropy managers and directors to create a strategy and measurable plan to achieve annual fundraising goals, with a strong emphasis on acquisition, retention and upgrade.
    • Research the newest technologies and best practices to ensure a state-of-the-art annual giving program. This will include utilizing data analytics and marketing segmentation to drive strategies for each program.
    • Enhance the tribute and matching gift programs by developing strategies to proactively acquire, cultivate, and steward donors.
    • Develop a strong working knowledge of The Raiser’s Edge database in order to enter, maintain, and pull data relating to fundraising activities.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
    • 2-4 years in a development office/fundraising role or equivalent work and volunteer experience. 
    • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • A self-starter with solid project management skills
    • Work independently and confidentially and be able to interact with donors, trustees, patients, and staff in a professional manner.
    • Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications (preferably The Raisers Edge and Microsoft Office).
    • Ability to initiate and organize work, establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality control.
    • A penchant for data and data utilization, appreciation for the sciences, an open and curious mind, the desire to be part of a nimble, collaborative team which is determined to move the needle in diabetes research, care and education using the mechanism of annual giving.
