  • Overview

    The Medical Technologist responsibilities include performing patient and research subject specimen analysis and quality control/quality assurance protocols.  S/he is also expected to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and follow through to resolution.


    Hours will be Monday-Friday; 6:30am - 3:00pm 


    • While adhering to all standard operating procedures, the Medical Technologist will perform tests authorized by the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Manager.  This may include: processing specimens, test performance and test results
    • Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing specimens are tested in the same manner as patient samples. Adhere to all quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
    • Identifies and troubleshoots problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results.  Recognizes when test result values fall outside of the overall patterns and troubleshoots to resolve discrepancies and correct the problem, while following established corrective action policies and procedures.
    • Respond to telephone inquiries from clinicians and researchers regarding test results in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Provide leadership to technicians and other lab personnel.  May resolve operational issues in the absence of the Lab Manager or Supervisor.
    • Cleans instrumentation and perform other routine maintenance on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis following a vendor provided maintenance schedule.
    • May be trained in the processing procedures for samples being sent to reference laboratories.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
    • Minimum of 2 years of technical experience
    • MLS or MT (ASCP)
    • Clinical Chemistry
    • Hematology
    • Specimen Processing
    • Urinalysis
