  • Overview

    The Data Analyst I performs data management and statistical analyses for Munshi Lab projects. This role will also provide supervision of research fellows and research assistants when tasked with data extraction from medical records, data cleaning, SAS programming, statistical analyses, and study performance.


    • Develops and maintains study database(s)
    • Develops procedures for cleaning large data sets
    • Performs data analyses using statistical software packages (SAS) and other software packages as necessary (i.e for longitudinal analyses - HLM or proc mixed.)
    • Manages Microsoft Access databases and converts databases to SAS. Provides training/support in SAS programming and statistical analysis to research staff
    • Trains and supervises lab staff in data collection, data entry, and data cleaning
    • Participates in hiring process for research staff
    • Serves as liaison to Clinical IT Department for extraction of electronic medical record data for IRB-approved research protocols
    • Assists is study design and monitoring of study performance
    • Contributes to design and modification of research protocols
    • Participates in preparation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for publication
    • Assists with grant submissions
    • Participates in weekly lab/study/data club meetings
    • Other duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s degree in biostatistics, applied mathematics or statistics. Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum 1 year of Biostatistical Analysis experience preferred
    • SAS certification preferred
    • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Access and SAS
    • Advanced skills in statistical analysis and writing
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
