Overview

The Research Assistant that will work on a clinical research project in the Pediatric
Research Program.

 

The Research Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Recruiting, enrolling, following, and scheduling study patients
  • Administering study questionnaires
  • Performing semi-structured interviews or leading focus groups with patients/families
  • Maintaining inventory of lab supplies for studies involving diabetes devices
  • Collecting medical data from patients’ medical records
  • Assisting with data entry, management, and analysis
  • Assisting with the preparation of oral presentations and written research reports
  • Attending twice weekly research team meetings

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, enroll, follow, and schedule eligible patients and parents into pediatric
    research studies.
  • Administer questionnaires to patients and parents as needed.
  • Perform semi-structured interviews or lead focus groups with patients/families
  • Maintaining inventory of lab supplies for studies involving diabetes devices
  • Obtain medical information from patients’ medical records.
  • Organize and code psychosocial qualitative and quantitative data and medical data.
  • Enter data for computer analysis.
  • Attend and participate in twice weekly research meetings.
  • Oversee confidentiality of all research data.
  • Deliver psychoeducational interventions to families when at Joslin for their
  • scheduled pediatric medical appointments or virtually.
  • Participate in the preparation of scientific publications and presentations of this study’s scientific data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in the behavioral/social or biological science preferred
  • Minimum two years of research experience working with families or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with statistical analyses preferred.
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with statistical analyses preferred.
  • Ability to follow general instructions and procedures, as provided
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (communicate clearly and effectively via verbal and written instruction).
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Professional and warm in demeanor, especially when relating to study participants and their families
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities – through completion.
  • Ability to work independently and with others in the team - to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

 

 

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
